Finding Father

Before my little spoof of that gastrointestinal interlude, we were talking about two, of the three great religions of the world. The missing one, Christianity, we didn't discuss at all, as I figured it would be better, closer to Christmas day. Chronologically, that first Christmas when Jesus was born, came after the Jewish religion, but before the Muslim religion. Also, I wanted to save the best for last! Besides the fact that I am a Christian, why would I say Christianity is best? First, you should know, that all religions, including Hinduism and the Eastern philosophies, all come in one form or another from the three. Just as a little factoid, all three lay claim to Jerusalem, a city in the small nation state of Israel. What would be the odds on that? I hate even using the word religion as a way to reference Christianity, but it simplifies it I suppose?
God's plan, is the reason Jesus was born. The short of it is, that he came into this world to die. I suppose there are some who still do, but ancient religions required a blood sacrifice. One of the things that sent Jesus into a tirade at the Temple court was that they sold doves and other small animals to people so that they'd have an animal to sacrifice, but that's another story. The problem with actual blood sacrifices, was that you had to do it more then once. Jesus came to be a sacrifice for all, once, clean and done. He was the perfect sacrifice as he was pure, and only purity can approach God. Think of it as the purest water in all the world in a clear glass, and then dump some black ink into it, the two just don't mix. That is why we need an arbiter, a go between, a bridge to the Father. Jesus is that link to God, and he came to earth as a uniter. Though he was a Jew and a Rabbi, Jesus, being one with the Father, has no religion. He then, is the link for both the Jew and the Muslim, and even though both of them stubbornly refuse to admit that Jesus is the son of God, Jesus still is that bridge, as he is for all people everywhere.
Jesus Christ is a gift from God, an offer to stubborn man, to be able to come before God the Father. Jesus is the uniter, not the divider, for he doesn't care what religion you call yourself. God doesn't want your religion, he wants you. He is the way given by God as a way, the only way to himself. The disciplne that comes with the law can not save you, only the Spirit can do that. He calls just as he always has. The offer still on the table, even above the clamor for war. As the two sides ready themselves, still he speaks to each one personally, and says, Come, let us reason together.
Merry Christmas everyone, from our family to yours. For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given. The offer is still there. Give yourself a Christmas present, and give yourself to him. Peace..

It's all about Carbon

It may have been in high school biology, but at some point, I came to believe that we are mostly made from carbon? Seventy-five parts water, and the rest carbon? Speaking of course from a basic element state of mind, CO2 hydration and the like. But anyway, whether my assumption is correct or not is irrelevant, as it got me to thinking about this whole poison air thing, in a funny kind of way. Looking at things in a funny way, is my way.
But before I had the funny thought, I had an unfunny one. One about a story. A story about two industrialists, who are discussing whether or not to invest in this new company, who came out with this new type of coal scrubber, scrubber. Perfa-Clean is it's name. There device, takes the emissions that would normally come from smoke stacks, and reinjests it into the factory or turbine. This would take the would be smoke, and run it through high speed piping, subjecting it to differing temperatures, speeds, and other stimulai, converting it back down to it's most basic element. But obviously, that isn't funny, and so I definitely digress.
As for the funny part, that came to mind as a remedy of sorts, as the government has gotten so bad, that if you didn't laugh, you'd cry. Obviously, as we are already talking about carbon, the funnier story would have to stick to that script. The question that came to mind was, because we are carbon based, are we a threat too? The environmental crazies are dead serious about farts. Farts contain methane, and so farts are a noxious fuel. Not to worry though, as our government is already on this problem of farting,  they are already on cattle, cattle who do a lot of farting that is. But why cattle first, and not pigs? Surely pig farts must be more obnoxious? But surely, the smelliest, and therefore the most dangerous, must come from humans, as our diets are so rich and diverse. Now I'm not one to brag, but I've cleared a room or two in my day! So I find myself in a strange place, I find myself with al the environmental crazies, and I say, because living things fart, that it is us animals that are the problem, and I stand proudly with the global warming crowd when I say, down with all that farts, down with life.

What is a spiritual war?

Family is the short answer, if you understand the depths of emotion which can come only from family, then you will know that it is a family matter. Family you see, makes it personal. How family, you might ask? First and foremost, we are all part of God's family. It doesn't matter if you don't believe in God, for He either exists or not, and I can tell you that He does. We speak now of another dimension, one of spirits. Also, as we can all agree, there is good and there is evil, and so, because God exists, so does his counterpart, Satan.
But back to our story. When we think about family, no one but your family can make you feel more love, and no one can piss you off, and hurt your feelings, more then family. Because, it is personal. But in order to explain family, I'm going to explain it with an American family, two families actually. The Hatfields and the McCoys, two families from the hills of Kentucky, just after the Civil War.  The two patriarchs were neighbors, and fought together for the Confederacy. Something happened between the two men during the war, and they came home hating each other. After that, it got to killing and revenge, an endless circle of violence. To complicate matters, there were inter-marriages between the families, and so there was betrayal to add to the fire. There is a movie about it if you are interested. With all these neighbors had in common, it is from these, the term "blood feud" became popular. You see, because it's about family, it's a matter of honor, making it a family matter. Family, it can cause the greatest of love and devotion, and yet, the other side of that, the greatest treachery and hatred.
It's a Family Matter:
So what does the story of a couple of hillbilly families have to do with what goes on today? Family. It really is that simple, and yet so difficult to understand. If you know anything about the Bible or the Koran, you would know that both sides are in agreement, and both rightfully claim Abram, later to be known as Abraham as the Patriarch of their families, their clan, their tribe, their blood. You can read the story yourself in Genesis 16 and 17, but here it is, paraphrased into a nutshell. Abraham and Sarah his wife, are in their mid eighties, and have no children. So Sarah says to her husband of fifty plus years, Honey, seeing as we have no children and we are old, please go into my maid servant Hagar, have sex with her and make a son. Now, with my devious mind, two things come immediately to mind, first, God bless Abraham that the little man could still pay attention, and then, he thinks to himself about making love to this beautiful, twenty something virgin, an absolutely gorgeous Egyptian girl, and well, I'll bet this is one order she didn't have to say twice! Abraham and Hagar gave berth to Ishmael, and years later after much conflict, the Lord blesses Sarah who is nearing 100 yrs., and Abraham and Sarah his wife, give berth to Isaac. Brothers, and God blesses both of them, telling each that they would have descendants by the million, and from them kings and princes would come. Two brothers, one's descendants to be the Jews, and the other whose descendants would be Muslim. The bridge between them, the bridge that can settle it all. This bridge still exists, ahis name is Jesus Christ, he is the everlasting bridge, the true bridge, and the only bridge to the Father.

The Deceiver

Look, the deceiver comes, he waits in the wings. His lies sound new, but they are the same lies told in the ancient days. Subtle is his deception, he speaks lies with ease. He is an ancient one this deceiver, he twists the lies of old into phrases of today. Calm and collected is his demeanor, but watch him folks, for he is a sly one, and will stab you in the back!

He speaks from a place of honor, but there is no honor in him. The truth he manages as a magician, with smoke and mirrors, he is the master of misdirection. He will fool many, as he will speak as if with a caring heart. But he has no room for caring, he cares only for himself. Some will say, Just a man of means, and all he craves is power.
Arrogant in his ways, as his disappointments have been few. But he thinks to himself, that his ways are greater then that of the people, because he thinks his thoughts to be much greater then theirs, and he scolds them as if little children. This war that has begun, is a spiritual war fought now in our time, did you think that he wouldn't come? The spiritual has become reality, did you not think he would speak?
No, the deceiver has come, and though the folly of his lies will be believed by many, the Truth will only become stronger.

Happy Thanksgiving

For those of you in different countries, this American holiday, is simply sitting down with family and loved ones, where we take time to remember our many blessings. A time of reflection and sharing. I would suggest that this day become not only an American holiday, but a world one. Besides digging into the feast set before you, it was customary for the head of the family, to lead the group in prayer. Sadly, this most important element of the holiday rarely occurs anymore. Sometimes, at least my family has tried, you go around the table telling one thing that you are thankful for.
The world is in a very dangerous place right now, and that is a huge understatement. Take the time, whether with or without a feast, to pray in ernest. You don't have to be a gifted speaker, or struggle to use any religious terms, just pray that God comes to the aid of his people, ask him for strength, and for wisdom in these very confusing times. The prayer need not be eloquent, just heart felt.
For those of you who think it nothing more then a waste of time, just sit quietly and reflect. You might be convinced that it won't help, but surely, it won't do you any harm either. This war is like none you've ever seen. It is a spiritual war, and in order to defeat the vermin that commit such heinous crimes, you must kill the spirit that drives them. It is different, because it isn't driven by the desire for territory or money. Men in battle don't kill over anger, but they fight for love. Love of family, love of country, sure, but love for God is something that makes no sense to the world. But that is what we are up against, a bond so strong, that they would gladly give their lives for it. The Christians showed that kind of resolve when they stood bravely on the floor of the Roman Coliseum while being devoured by lions. But with the Islamists, the sacrifice they make by killing themselves, means nothing unless they take non believers with them.
Christ tells us to pray for your enemies, and so you should. These people too are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, and they are capable of love. They have been led astray by evil men, and the god they serve is a spirit, but he is not God. Pray that they come to see the light.

Pixie Dust

Just another clean sheet of paper, a new day filled with possibility, or just another day? After my morning coffee, I went to sit outside, to see just what type of day that this day was shaping up to be. It wasn't too long before I felt the hope of yesterday had come and gone without any real change. And so, I made myself more comfortable in my lawn chair, and took on that melancholy mood that comes with, just another day.
But sensing movement up and to my right, I saw the neighbors cat perched in my tree. Ain't this a bitch I thought, I wonder if he will need help getting down from there? He seemed pretty calm and confident up there, and not panicked at all. So I figured, maybe he can make it by himself, I just hope he doesn't seriously injure himself. Maybe I should go and tell the neighbor, afterall, it was her cat, let her decide. Then I'm thinking, well, at least it won't be boring for a while, but also, what a hassle it is going to be with the fire department, hooks and ladders, and a yard full of onlookers trampling my wife's flowers.
But the cat, remember him? God bless him, he took matters into his own hands. and started down the tree. This, he did head first, which amazed me, because if I were him, I would have gone down tail first. But he made it to ground without incident, and I said to myself, Nimble little minx. Then I wondered whether it was minx or minks, one being part of a coat, and the other of pixie dust.

Obama Legacy (part two)

Truly, much of who Obama is, and how to account for his meteoric rise from Community Organizer from Chicago to the presidency of the United States of America in such a short time, is shrouded in mystery. The reason for this are many, but owed by no small account to a national press, who wanted little more then to aid him and his office. Their reasoning for this lack of interest are both personal and corporate. Headline news, real barn burners of a story were left, more often then not, to die on the vine. The idea being, to never chance making the President look bad. The most abhorrent of the presses reluctance to do what is entrusted for them to do, was by far and away, Benghazi. Try to imagine what those four brave souls had to endure before their murders. Then imagine that they meant something to you personally, as if they were your father, son, or brother. The headline? Four Americans succumb to their wounds and die, after a thirteen hour gun fight, which pitted four Americans with rifles and small arms against hundreds of terrorists who were armed with mortars and rocket launchers. The reason for this attack was terrorism, made more apparent as it was executed on 9/11. Couple that with the many phone calls, emails, and personal connections, that begged for more security, or, permission to do as others had done, and close our Embassy. This went on for months prior to the actual attack. And then, being in full knowledge of this, Hillary assures her daughter and others on the night of the attack, that it was a terrorist attack. Then, to have the President, Secretary Clinton, and Susan Rice, make speeches in the United Nations, and on the Sunday morning talk shows and lie some more to the people, a full three days after the event, blaming the whole thing on some obscure video, solely for political reasons. Hillary, a mother herself, looked another mother in the eye, whose son was one of the men in the flag draped coffins, and lied to her too. That is a special kind of cold, the thought of it still makes me sick. The point of telling the story again now, is to show to what extent the press is willing to go to protect their guy. Who is Obama, and where is he, so we can understand him? Hiding behind the press. For this administration, scandals are just a way of life, in some weeks two or more scandals would emerge, all needing to be handled and made to go away. Nothing must be linked to the President. Even before he was elected, hints of scandals began to emerge. It was Hillary who asked about his berth certificate, as she asked for proof that he was born in Hawaii, and not Indonesia. Next was the question as to whether he was a Christian or not. A reasonable question, as his father was a practicing Islamist, and as you can see from his book, Dreams from my Father, he admired his dad a great deal. But he claims, that this time, the apple fell nowhere near the tree, and that he was a Christian. He did sit for twenty years under the tutelage of Jeremiah Wright, a rabid racist who can be heard thundering from his pulpit, God damn America! Lastly, what are the man's politics, what types of ideology interested him in his college days? How were his grades, and was he drawn to marxist type friends and professors? This too is a mystery, as it is said that his college transcripts are sealed. So as we enter these perilous times, what is needed is a leader, someone honest, someone who can be trusted with so noble a cause as protecting the American people. So again we ask ourselves, who is Barack Obama, and what will his legacy be? I guess that would depend if you can find it?

Obama Legacy (part one)

As the world moves quickly toward another war, the people of the world, and Americans themselves want to know, Who is Barack Hussein Obama, who is this man who sits at the most powerful seat in the world?  What is his response, and by the office he holds, what is America's response to the Islamists whose aim it is to acquire a base for the Caliphate state, and  to install Sharia law as the law of all people. As a way of simplification, instead of the mouth full of words needed to refer to the terrorists, I propose that we make the distinction between the evil and the good, that the terrorists be called Islamists, and their peaceful brethren as Muslim. Thankfully, the Islamists are the minority.
But as it is clear to most everyone, the world stands at the beginning of a third world war. With the stakes so high, and the ramifications of the decisions that countries make regarding this world threat being so dire, it is a fair question to ask. Who is this man, and where is it he hopes to lead America and her people regarding this clear and present danger? Under normal circumstances, it would be none of anyone's business outside of Americans themselves, as to what America can be counted on to do during these extraordinary times. But today, with an enemy so clearly an enemy to free people everywhere, everything is everyone's business. We must come to be what is needed to defeat a common enemy, and that is, to be united as one. Indeed, two countries who had little in common, have joined together to defeat this common enemy. Russia and France have decided to table their political differences on lesser matters, and to join forces in order to defeat this evil which threatens all of us. They too must be confused by America's lack of resolve, and as citizens of the world, they have the right to ask, What is Obama's plan in all of this, and can America be trusted with his regime at the helm? So, who is Barack Obama, and why is he so content to let others lead the world's fight against this evil. Where is America, and how long will she content herself to be a follower rather then a leader? The ghastly way they murder, with crucifixions, beheadings, burning people alive, the rape and degradations they inflict on their victims, rival the Nazi party in the horror and total lack of morality, paling only in the sheer numbers of the Nazi atrocities.
Because the Obama Whitehouse has been the most secretive and least transparent in our history, conspiracy theories flourished as a way to understand the outlandish decisions made by his administration. Their lack of simple truths and common sense only fueled those theories. But even though most of these theories can't be proved or disproved until years after the regime leaves office, because of the importance of this time in history, they cannot be dismissed so easily either. Who is this man really, and why are his actions regarding Islamist terror so far removed from what the vast majority of what the civilized world believes? It is a legitimate question, and except for the monumentally stupid among us, can no longer be attributed to phantom racism either. Because, like most Americans in this day and age, could care less whether a man is sky blue pink. All we want from our president is to admit the obvious, and then, tell us what it is he intends to do about it. To do nothing in the face of evil, only assists that evil, and to be content to pass this mess onto the next guy is wrong.

I Love Mutts

Three cheers for the all American mutt, for no other breed is so loyal. I have had dogs all of my life, from my boyhood right up until now. Max, my current dog is one of those, "designer" breeds, being a mix of a pure blood pug with a beagle, making him a Puggle? He's a nice little guy, a bit dangerous around food, but also came with what I have never seen in any of the Mutts before him. Max has a variety of conditions, which can best be described as psychological. In fact, ole Max is so odd when compared to his predecessors, that it would take a team of Freudian professors months to unravel the ticks and mannerisms that is his way. High strung, and who needs a dog who's anxieties are only going to conflict with your own? Now you owners of pure breeds, don't get me wrong, as there are many fine dogs who are as pure as the driven snow. Had me a German Shepherd for a while, and he was a great companion.
But speaking generally in a general sense, I find there is nothing better then a Mutt. Most Americans are Mutts, by far and away, all of our families go back at least two generations. Yup, the good old Heinz 57 mix is the most loyal and trust worthy, in short, I love Mutts. I'm a Mutt, German/English, a good amount of Irish, and a splash of this or that along the way. It's inevitable, new groups who came, cloistered at first, for reasons of language and culture. But eventually breaking out, even to inter marry with those from a different group. Italian/Irish, Greek/French, and well, you get the picture, it's called assimilation. But even as these boundaries fell, the ones most dear eventually fell too. Jew married Christian, believers married non believers, and we all swirled around as if in a big pot. What came out of that stew was a new breed of people, a people made strong because of their diversity, the fabric that came to be America made strong, not limited to one type of yarn or silk, but made from the best thread that each culture could provide. And like a huge blanket, these many fabrics became one, a new type of blanket, one not seen until America forced her way boldly among the world's leaders, and brashly demanding attention. The world's stage had become America's stage. The point of this started out to be another subtle way of explaining why, especially now with what is going on in the world, the importance of a proper vetting system. One required of all locations of entry, and not limited to the refugees only. That all, no matter their situation, all be vetted conclusively before being allowed into the country. But as I wrote this, I could feel my anger rise, and I thought to myself, This is bullshit! Why should I waste time trying to explain the importance of vigilance with compassion, when it'll only fall on deaf ears? So in the next post, I'm going to finally say what I have held back saying for so long now.  I mean, that is the beauty of being a nobody, what can they do to me, sue me? Man, I'm too broke to pay attention!

Murder by Choice

What reason there is for it, I do not know? I don't know more then I do, but still at times, I figure I know more then I should? This war, this next stop in history, is one that you do not understand, because it is a spiritual war. But what does that mean? You might identify more with it, if I were to call it religion. There seems to be a lot of religions in the world, but the truth is, that there are really just two. One is true, and one is not. One speaks of love and refuge , while the other speaks of cleansing the land of all who of all who will not come. The choice is that stark, one is evil, and the other good. Free will may have been bought at the Tree of Knowledge, but it is most clear today. One seeks murder as a cleansing, a matter not without merit in the spiritual world, because the spirit lives also in the flesh. But understand that this is a war of transition, from the spirit to the flesh. What once couldn't be seen at all, is now seen by all. But again good soldier, there are only two sides, one the right way, and the other the wrong. The world is beset on two sides now, by forces that will first take from you, something for which you have already paid the price, Freedom of Speech. The two are joined forever you know? Freedom of speech and God. For now, the two who oppose Him, are together as one. But one will devour the other, when their service is no longer needed. But for now, it is a two pronged attack, Socialism and the Caliphate, they have come to take away your freedom, and they have come to take your life.
But if you are not a spiritual person, how are you to know the difference? It is impossible for you to understand spiritual truths, if you are not spiritual. I will try to explain it to you, you who do not understand it. One faith says to you, You may be asked to die for your faith, innocent and alone, and that there is honor in that, while the other says to it's followers, murder, and take as many with you as you can, and that there is honor in that. One seeks murder, while the other makes you a target for murder. To murder, or be among the murdered, isn't as easy a choice as you might have thought.
Two Gods, one who comes to murder, and the other, who came into this life to be murdered. Which of these two legends of scripture do you serve, the one who came to earth to be murdered, or by the one who did the murdering?

I Am

What is the power of words, I tell you that their power is without limit! Before the would be kings became King, words as thoughts first came to their mind. In his mind he schemed and made plans to achieve his goals. And when he told others of his vision for the future, he presented his words in a way that made others excited. Coalitions were formed, vows made, and by putting pen to paper, words were made to become law. Wars are fought because of them, and when cooler minds prevail, peace accords are reached.
But two words, made complete in three letters, are the most powerful of them all. When God himself was asked his name, he did not say Jehovah, or Allah, but He answered, I Am. Think of the completeness of it, think about the depths of thought such an answer brings to mind. I Am. I am God, I am life, I am man, I am the way, I am the truth. And with all the affirmations that those words give, in reverse, it gives the other side of life. The kind that bring doubt, Am I? It is from these questions that  science and the arts are spawned. In the ying and yang spin of life, it asks of itself, Am I? The answer of course is yes, I am God, I am all those things and more, says the Almighty.

Unusual Politics Too

For those of you who watched last night's debates, congratulations, you are now an integral part of our Democratic process. First, let me get this off my mind. For you Christians out there, if you did not watch the debates, because you think why bother, safe in the knowledge that Christ is in control, shame on you. Yes, God is in control, but that doesn't mean you should shirk your responsibilities as a citizen.
The event itself did exactly what it was supposed to do, it was informative, and even if you are on the left of center, learned something from it. In short, it was an intelligent debate. So what did we learn? Well, we see that what the group as a whole offers, is an extreme difference from the Democratic agenda. The simple truth, is that which the middle class already knows, is that this country cannot take another 4 years of the socialist leaning left. Because of that ideology, this country is far worse off on every important subject then we were 8 years ago. Obviously, to change this course, the country must elect the Republican. But which one, as that was the finer point to be decided last night.
In line with that, the conversation until the next one will be, who lost and who won? What will those so important polls tell us? (last sentence best with a grain of salt). I though all in the four man debate did well, and any of them will be better then what we have. In the big boy show plus one, there were some clear losers. The front runners committed no serious gaffs. Mr. Trump showed that he can be a gentleman, and solid points were made by all. The sad truth for the Democrats is this, because the extremists have taken over the party, and the difference so glaring, that any of them, in either debate will be better then four more of the Obama Hillary show. But still, which one for the Republicans? Interesting to me, was that the two on the end hurt themselves the worst, Rand Paul is convinced that if we strengthen our military, that you cannot be a conservative? That mentality would have fit well back in the ten years from 1950-60, but not today, not with the world wide threat of Islamist terrorists. At the other end, a very bright man, made himself to look annoying, constantly interrupting people's train of thought. He looked agitated and confused, but he was the guy who had no problem with the agenda driven sham over at NBC. As for them all, the vetting system will winnow them out as needed. Why? Because surprise, the American people have finally woken up. Apparently, we aren't stupid after all.

Unusual Politics

The amazing thing about politics in this country, is that Liberals and Conservatives agree on more then  that to which they disagree. We have a two party system in place for a long time, but how well is it working for us? Pardon the pun, but with a two party system, you are only one party away from a Monarchy. Everyone understands the importance of money, after all, it is money that drives the bus. Those who have the most of it, and those who control it, have all the power. The two party system is most evident when the Presidential elections are held. A percentage point or two, often decides the winner, and for the most part, the electorate is pretty evenly split. What this even split does, is consolidate the money and power between two groups. Ask yourself, What do these parties do, what is their function? They are in the influence game, and just by the nature of that business, they attract lobbyists and special interest groups by the score.  The opportunity for abuse, in the form of cronyism and back room deals is not only a possibility, but it is widely assumed, that it goes on all the time. The simple question is, by limiting ourselves to the good old fashion way of the two party, have we been a part of allowing such abuses? Too much power, being controlled by too few, is always a problem, and it is a problem for those on either side of the ideological fence. Influence peddlers, their methods and their money, just naturally breed opportunities for corruption. One thing is clear to the working class, and that is, that it is them who'll get screwed in the end. No matter the promise or who made it, it is the working class men and women of this country who will pay for it, they always do.
Now, you would think, that people on both sides of our national debate, would recognize the problems inherent with our current system, and at least explore other methods? You would think that, but you would be wrong. One of the biggest shared traits between Conservatives and Liberals, is their fear of change. You would think by their labels of liberal or progressive, that the Democratic party would be open to new ideas, but in this, they stand in lockstep with the Republicans. Holding onto the old ways so hard, that they are even against term limits. Fear of change is a common enough trait, but with a change like this, it is a legitimate fear for them, and they would fight hard to keep it in place. Why wouldn't they, as they are one of the two who share power. There is an alternative, as we, the people, don't need either one of them, and it could be very easily done. To go from the two party system, to a no party system is really hot hard. For room sake, I will spare you the details. Briefly, as an example: Start with 12 people. These would be people who might start out championing one cause or another. They would start with a small following, but as they gained in popularity, they would have enough followers, and be able to get the required amount of signatures on a petition. A petition requesting that their guy, be considered as one of the twelve. By a structured procedure of vetting, all paid for by the taxpayers, so that no special interest need apply. The goal would be to get four finalists, and these four, all with equal ad money, (no more billion dollar campaigns), would compete equally for the Presidency. No more labels of one or the other, except for maybe the first one to become elected in such a way.  We could call that one, the first Candidate of the People.

The Power and the Majesty

There is power in the sky, there is strength, there is majesty, and there is direction. For in the skies, often are signs, signs to be read, signs huge, like billboards along the highway. If you can read them, and see that they do not come only from atmospheric conditions. For these signs appear when the prevailing winds are calm, and the clouds can have their way as they move slowly overhead.
And I looked up, and at the head of this huge bank of clouds was clearly the formation of a dove. The white dove type that are sometimes released at weddings. But as I watched, the formation changed from that peaceful dove, into a bird of prey. I didn't understand it at first, but caught up in the grandeur of the scene, I praised God. I was struck motionless with my arms outstretched at my sides.
And then the cloud spoke to me. Not in an audible sense, but clearly in my mind, and this is what it said. The time has come, when you must change from the dove and become the eagle again. You were born for this moment, founded on a covenant with me, and so, it has fallen to you, to be the defender of the free world. But you have allowed yourself to be led astray, your conscience has been seared from horror, and you have long since forgotten who you are. For you were born, not to follow, but to lead. Chosen by God, it is why you became so rich and powerful in such a short time.
But though you are fearful of what history has yet to tell, you can shirk your responsibility no more. For like it or not, it doesn't matter your politics, war is at your door. As is always true with free will, you have a choice. That choice is, whether we choose as a nation to honor our covenant with the God on whom is our base, and go confidently ahead into this coming of great trouble, or, continue as a nation to reject him, and go it alone? Remember that you have been birthed by God, sealed by the truth of God, and it is he who has made you great.
But understand this, Just because you have been chosen for battle, doesn't mean you are destined to win. Free will must have its way with you, and so, if this country continues in it's wicked ways, rejecting his leadership, and choose to go it alone, without God, well, we will win some battles, but lose the war.

Just another day

Just another day in the litter box. It is a figure of speech, to which I may, or may not have coined? A figure of speech, according to what I figure, is a pre programmed response to an often asked question. For instance, in the common occurence of everyday pleasantries, one might say to you, How are you doing today, how's it going, that type of thing. Now if you are anything like me, you might choose to use a bit of sarcasm here, just for comic effect. The answer I had been giving was, Whats the use of complaining, nobody listens, but I'm now using, Just another day in paradise.  Just another day in the litter box, just popped out for the first time today, where it came from I do not know, and I may, or may not have heard it somewhere before? At this point, you are probably wondering what this has to do with anything? I know I am. But I'll go on anyway, since I'm already started.
When you are figuring whether to use figure of speech's in your daily response to such pleasantries, you should also consider, that far more often then not, they are received well. In reality, when people say such things in casual encounters during your day, they are rarely interested in how you are, or how your day is going, but are only being polite. In these instances of polite conversation, Figure of Speech statements are usually understood, sarcastic or not. Even though what is really going on here, is that no real answer is necessary, because they, like you, are in a hurry, and would rather go on with what they were doing. So go ahead and use a figure of speech to blow them off, it is perfectly acceptable and polite.

What is cool?

I have been told that I should continue writing here on my site, and when checking, realized that it has been quite a spell since I have. My reasoning was sound, as I looked to finish a book I had started, and thought that I should concentrate more on that. Though it is very close to being finished, it still isn't. I've found that book writing takes discipline, something I was never good at. But I will finish it soon, though it has morphed from one book, to a short one with three short stories. (no pun intended)
Anyway, cool, what is it? Do you have what it takes, are you cool? Being cool is something I've strived for all of my life, and for the most part, I have accomplished that. My first attempt was regarding engineer's boots, white tee shirts and rolled up blue jeans. Later, seeing as how we are on foot wear, came cleats nailed to the heels of your shoes, so that you would click when you went down the hall. The engineer boots, or at least it is my belief, came originally from train engineers, but made famous by returning GIs, who, returned from the war, and started motorcycle gangs.
So what is cool, does it always change with the passing fads, or is it something more basic then that? The one thing I can think of that has remained cool through it all, is to be a rebel. To be rebellious, to rage against the machine, take the road less traveled, be your own person, be one of a kind. But it takes guts. But, if you do it, you'll be as cool as the cat's pajamas. To find where the cooler then cool are, you must never look for them in the majority, but only in the small groups.
So now all you need do, is pick a small group of intelligent people, and join it. Individualists, always congregate in smaller crowds, it is where art is found. Wanna join the most select of all groups, one that does rail against the machine, one that, cast in stone will make you the coolest of all?
Be a Christian, because there is nothing more courageous then announcing that you are a Christian. No other group is so maligned, and it isn't an easy road. That's what makes it cool. Of course, there is the alternative, the world's way, their idea of courage? If you choose that one, the small group you want to join to become cool, protests for gender neutral bathrooms.

Being Anderson Cooper

By design, I had arranged my TV so that I had the Mets/Dodger game on one channel, and CNN's coverage of the Democratic debate on the other. All I need do is hit my "last" button so that I could switch during commercials, and try to catch them both. I thought about setting up the PIP button, but it didn't end well the last time I tried it? But then, you might say that I thought better of it, thinking to myself that the whole process would wind up a frustrating waste of time. Both the media and the candidates having been already forewarned, that Hillary was to be treated with kid gloves. The die having been cast, how interesting could it be? My only real interest anyway, was to see how main line Democrats were dealing with the reality of being so closely knit to the Socialist party. Surely the lines between the two had become blurred, so much so, that when Chris Matthew's asked Debbie Shultz with tongue in cheek, what the difference was between a socialist and a Democrat, she looked dumbfounded, stammered for an answer, and then quickly changed the subject? Surely, under the leadership of Barrack Obama, the party has lurched so far left, that there is little difference. Is there a difference anymore, and is Bernie Sanders the only one brave enough to cast off the the semantics, and not need names like liberal and progressive anymore? Saying in essence, if it looks like a duck, and it walks like a duck, it's probably a duck. What difference is there anymore? It is a fair question. You have to love ole Bernie, at least he's honest, he believes that crap. Misguided as he is, he really believes that this time, we can get it right.
So anyway, I opted for the game only, and I'd see the highlights of the debates on the news. Afterall, the question as to whether the people want a centralized rule and believe that an elite class must lead the people, and this for the people's own good. If the people understand what the candidate offers, and still want that, then the people will decide by their vote. Whether they call it Socialism, or Just being a good Democrat the differences between the two parties, Republican and DEmocrat, have never been so clear. Choose a party who believes that a huge federal bureaucracy is the answer to everything, and that we would all be better off once we came to accept it, or, the other side, which believes that the people should rule, and definitely not a select few.
But still, knowing already their views and their base talking points, it is, a must watch to some extent. And even though it promised to be only slightly more entertaining then watching paint dry, I have watched some of it, therefor, completed my obligation as a Democrat and a citizen. By the way, the last I saw, the Mets were down three/one.
But to combat the boredom, I thought how to make it more interesting, and thought to myself, why not pretend to be Anderson Cooper, and have control over the event? Now, you must understand that no two men could be more different, and I don't mean just in our political bent. We are so different on so many fronts, suffice it to say that we are of a different pedigree. But, this is just pretend, and so why not have a little fun?  Instead of the normal, boring, good ole boy politics, so let's have some real fun. So you have to imagine, that I am now Anderson Cooper. And in my best Anderson Cooper voice I say, Good evening America, and thank you for joining us on this, the first of the Democratic debates for the presidency. The candidates are on stage, and ready, we're ready, the people in the audience and all of you at home are ready, so, Let's do this! First question. Americans are rightly very worried about the goings on in the middle east, and the threat of terrorism from that region coming here. The question on many American's mind is, Whose idea was it to blame the deaths of four brave Americans in our Benghazi embassy, on some obscure video, and when did you first know that it was a lie?
Now I know what your thinking, and no, the real Anderson Cooper would never ask such a thing Why it would be considered just bad form, besides, he isn't allowed. I told you we were nothing alike, but still it was nice to pretend.

Demand It

We have reached a point in this country, where two very important decisions must be made. These decisions though not made by us, speak of us, We the People. One, the upcoming vote on Iran carries with it the full weight of the most dire of circumstances. And we, as the people, as the voters, as Americans, have the right to know which way our elected officials voted. So, as a humble representative of the people, we want a complete list, a concise list, of both the yea and the nay votes on this extremely important issue. This list should clearly have their name, the state and district they represent listed.
Secondly, and this more of a barometer for American morals, like wise make a list of all in favor of continuing Planned Parenthood funding, and those opposed. We have the right to such clarity, and,     We the People demand it!

America, part two B

I'm not even going to try to go much into Revelations, as it is a difficult book for knowledgeable Christians, which means it would be impossible for those who don't read scripture. Just a little side bar here, but writing about scripture, can go to a strictly spiritual place, and instead of writing in this business type of writing, it would be poetry. God speaks in poetry, beautifully sculptured words and phrases that may seem flowery to the ear, but also, hard hitting nuggets of truth lie within the veil of those flowery words. The point of all this, is to get you to understand even a little bit, that what happens in the spiritual world, has spilled full out into this world. If you think about that, it makes perfect sense that the spirit world is more powerful then the real world, because only one carries the power of the eternal. Make no mistake, what we are talking about here, is the end of the world, that final battle called, Armageddon. You see, if you would read the book, you would understand. More then that, you could predict future events, as all you would have to do is follow the prophecy. All of the horrors you watch on the news, the earth quakes, floods and other natural disasters, all of these will and are occurring, just exactly as the bible tells us they would. How does the spiritual world affect ours? You are seeing it in living color, splashed across your television each and every night. The bad news is, that it may get worse before it gets better. Not that the good times and prosperity are do us, because as it stands today, we need to drastically change our course. We need to get back to where we respect each other, and are respected in turn, as truly, we are all in this together. No matter your beliefs, left right, or somewhere out in wacko land, all of us have our lives affected by what goes on in the spirit world.
But the real question for you, what it is that you want to know, is when is this end supposed to come? The physical end is still a way off yet, but the beginning of the end, the "time of sorrows," has already begun. But still you say, Oh c'mon Ed, surely you could be a little more specific? The bible tells us, that no one shall know the time, and I don't. All I can tell you with surety, is that it is very close.
One of the final events that must take place before Jesus returns as the Lion Of Judah, coming dispersing judgement and justice, is that there will be a half hour of silence in heaven. Rev. 8:1 Now this is a very ominous silence. The best way to describe it; Imagine that the world just stopped one day for a half hour. No planes or trains run, all of your gadgets are shut down, and no one even spoke, just complete silence. Revelation 8:1: When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about a half an hour. I believe that we are now living in that half hour, so Jesus' second coming is very close. How close? Well, that depends on how long a half hour is in eternal time? After all the politicking is done, and after all these world governments have made their sabers heard, the only way to save this great nation, we must seriously change our course. We must humble ourselves as a nation before God, and pray he doesn't remove totally, his hand of protection.
If my people will humble themselves and pray to me, I will heal their land. This is a promise of God.

America, part two A

One last comment about politics, sorry for that. The coming 2016 election is the most important in our history, ranking up there with the election of Abraham Lincoln, when such matters as states rights and slavery were decided. Never before have the differences in ideology been so stark. Make no mistake, if we continue down the road we have been traveling for the past ten years, it will be the ruin of this great land. You have a responsibility to take the time to fully understand the differences between these competing ideologies, make a decision based on what you find, and vote! That is the true power of the people, your vote. Because when you exercise that right, you help yourself and your country.
So what is going on in the spirit world, and how will that world affect ours? First, you should know, that the spirit world does exist, spirits exist. God is pure spirit, and his counter part, Satan, he too is a spiritual being. There are only two types of spirits, the good ones who serve God the Father, and the other side, those who serve Satan. Though you may say to yourself, I have never seen these spirits, in truth, you have. Spirits are free to travel between worlds and dimensions, and so you can see them, but only for a brief moment. You know when you could swear you see a human figure in your periphery, but when you turn to face it, there is no one there? That is most often a spirit, and you can only see them for a fleeting moment, when they move from one dimension to the next. You have also seen evil spirits when you watch the utter evil that men do in accordance with their god, Satan. These Islamist extremists who carry out such barbaric atrocities on your television screens each night, are possessed by demons, and demons are evil spirits. So far gone are these evil men, that not only can they do these things without conscience, they have reached a point of depravity where they actually enjoy the pain and suffering that they inflict. Make no mistake, though we face many serious problems in this nation, nothing in either the long or short term is as important as bringing an end to these evil men of Isis, Al Queda, and like minded vermin. From a spiritual perspective, all of these things were predicted, prophesied about, thousands of years ago. Unlike sooth sayers and fortune tellers, all of which is prophesied in the bible, must come true. Most of you reading this know nothing of the bible, because you've never read it, but as someone who does, what is happening now, is occurring exactly as the bible had foretold that it would. All of what you see happening has been told in advance, and you can read it in the final book of the bible, The Book of Revelation.

Americans, part one

I have never troubled myself over a story as much as I have this one. There are a lot of reasons for this. Partly I suppose, because I mean to make this one and the one to follow as my last for awhile. I'm getting so close to finishing the book I'm working on I can taste it, and writing here distracts me from concentrating on it. Although this is hardly a revelation, writing a book where you have to keep track of the story line and its characters, is much different then sitting down to write a blog. So anyway, I figured to reach out one last time before I dedicated myself to finishing the book.
As it turns out, this one will be in two parts. This part to touch on the secular, and the stupidity that our politics have become, and the second part, dealing with what the spiritual meanings are to what is happening in the world. But on to politics, and it is impossible to talk about politics today, without discussing the enigma that is Donald Trump. His popularity can best be described as riding the crest of the pent up rage that Americans feel about our totally inept government. His popularity is not only with the right, but also with the left, who want only to say to those in power, Oh yeah, well up yours! How else can you explain his appeal, other then to see it as a mindless raging against the machine? The problem with ranting is that there is never any real substance. This is a guy who says that John McCain doesn't measure up to a hero in his mind? I don't care much for Mr. McCains' good ole boy type of politics either, but not a hero? Perhaps the Bruce Jenner freak show would be more to his liking, a man who woke up one day and thought to himself, I want to be a girl? But just in case that bit of stupidity didn't move you, consider his latest bit of lunacy. Dr. Ben Carson is an OK doctor? OK? This doctor covers a whole lot of firsts, all in one sweep. The first man to separate conjoined twins who were joined at the brain, or perhaps for you constantly offended feminists, the first human being, but also, the first black man, to appease you racists out there. A lot of firsts from a brilliant man who's intellect, makes Trump look like what he is, a self centered egotistical wind bag, and who needs that, we already have one in the Whitehouse.

Appropriate Duos

Fantasies are like dreams, everybody has them. The question is, What do you do with them? Other then the words, there is little difference between a dream and a fantasy, and for my money, depending on the subject at hand, I see no difference at all. People will say, Follow your dreams, should you not then follow your fantasies? The answer of course, is yes, depending on what you dream and fantasize about. Perhaps you have dreamed about getting a certain job, and you have fantasized how it would be if you were behind that desk.  If what you dream about will bring about a positive change, not only to you, but to others also, then not only should you follow such fantasies, but they should become your focus.

Similarly, as is dreams and fantasies, feelings are married to emotions. But unlike more appropriate duos, feelings and emotions must be managed, as each tends to blur clear thinking. Surely deeply held convictions can bring about emotion, but then it is the product, rather than the cause.

There are other duos in language, duel meaning words and phrases that also come into play at times. Words like, peace and quiet, law and order, despair and depression, duty and honor, these too can can be useful in bringing about a positive outcome, or a destructive one that only adds to the chaos. Each one is a story of its own.

Coincidence

I have come to a place where I no longer believe in coincidence. I see reasons for everything, as if my life has become nothing more then structured steps. Call it destiny, or call it a pre determined state, it doesn't matter, because one thing I have come to know. Although I still exercise free will, the path that I choose, is the path that I should follow.
What has replaced coincidence in my mind, has instead become confirmation. But I am not alone in this, as in this, we are all the same. Most of what you chalk up to coincidence, isn't. Recognizing how truly rare coincidence is, is the first step. Life is structured. No matter how chaotic your life may seem to you at times, it doesn't mean that it isn't ordered. There is a rhythm to life. No matter in times of utter confusion and chaos, or in those times, of incredible peace. There is a pace, a pulse, and it is the heartbeat of life. The rhythm of this heart can be felt, and each of you feel it every day, but you have yet to identify it. But for those of us who can feel it, it quickens as a pulse in times of great chaos, and slows as things become quiet again. It is much like that perfect musical score, each note structured in time and pitch perfectly, each by the Master's stroke.

A Tangled Web

The parables turned to metaphors, whose sentences and phrases then rang out across the land. But the bell tolls for both the faithful and the not, it is a call to an end. Truth has emerged in the world, and lies no longer have a place to hide. Evil works its way too, it covers the earth like ever tightening tentacles. And yet, you still seek after foolishness, and call it wisdom.
You have become a people with no direction, your moral compass has gone awry. What difference you think, whether a lie or the truth, as long as I get my way? Indeed you think, lies have been very good to me,  lies have served me well.
But lies come at a price, because you can never be done with lies. There is the original lie as the base, and then you must tell a number of cover up lies, and well, you get the picture. It is that tangled web you see. Conversely, the truth is simple, and needs no explanation, because, Truth just is.

The Appointment

Doug Johnson had a ten o'clock appointment with a man named Cranston, at a company called, Tech Technologies, and he was running late. He arrived rushing through the door at five of, and Mr. Cranston's secretary shot him an accusing look. It was as if she was looking at both him, and the clock  behind him, both at the same time. She looked down at her work, without saying a word.
Doug felt immediately uncomfortable, and sat down at a chair between the clock and the window. There was the buzz of an intercom, and a voice said, Judy, has my ten o'clock arrived yet? Yes Mr. Cranston, she said, I believe he just came in? Doug looked at her nodding, and she said, You can go in now sir.
When he entered the inner office, Mr. Cranston stood looking out his window, and he said to Doug, I see you like to cut things close, does that mean you'll be the type of employee who is frequently late? He turned from the window and looked straight at Doug who was standing also, and motioning to a chair in front of his desk he said, Have a seat please. As Mr. Cranston went about settling himself behind his desk, Doug thought to himself, This has not started well.

Just a Typewriter

If I were to tell you that I understood what life is, would you believe me? You might well say to yourself, Who is this man who thinks he can tell us about life? How can he know that, how could anyone know that, how can any man dare to say such a thing? And you would be right in your doubting me, because they are right, Who can know such things, what man dare say such things, certainly, no man who walks among us, one who is one of us?
Certainly they are right, because what man could know such things, only God Himself knows such things. Such wisdom, as the meaning of life, is an intellectual realm where only God knows. What I'm trying so desperately to explain, is that you are right to doubt me, I'm a pretty smart guy, but I don't know those things! He Knows! and he tells me what to say, they are his words, and whatever wisdom you are able to glean from these posts are mine, isn't my logic that I pass on, it is his, all wisdom comes from him, he Is all wisdom. An intellect so grand, so boundless, that metaphors and adjectives don't do justice. Things like, Oceans of knowledge, beyond the measurement of fathoms, is a way to describe him, but even that falls flat. There is no words to describe him, I can not explain him in a way you could understand. But the point of this is, whatever wisdom you gain from this piece, are not my words and thoughts, they are His!, all I do is write down what he tells me, sort of like a typewriter?
But as to how we started this thing, What is life, and why are we here, what is our purpose in the cosmic theme of things? Life is but a puff of smoke to the eternal realm from where it comes. And as to why we are here? We must do what we were designed to do, what is in each and everyone of our DNA, We are to seek. To wonder, to ask questions like, How come, and why are things like they are. We are inquisitive by nature, we have this desire to understand. Modern science is proof of that. But what we are trying to understand, in the very short time we have with this temporary life to understand, is questions like, What is the meaning of life, why am I here, what greater purpose do I serve, who am I, what is it that I want so badly, and yet can't even name? By searching for what is true, from what is not, you will find your answer, because by your search for truth, and with each thing you find to be untrue, you get closer to what it is you really seek. What you seek is only the peace that knowing the truth can be give. The meaning of life? Why its to find the truth, and the truth is God. So again, why are you here, what is your purpose in this short thing we know as life, Why are you hear, you are hear to seek the essence of truth, You are here to find God.

Faith

What is faith, and does it have any power? Seeing, as how it is a two point question, it deserves a two point answer. Faith is something that each of us executes every day. When you go to sit on a chair, it is by faith that you sit. You don't stop to think whether the chair is sound enough to hold you, you just sit down. You didn't feel compelled to check it out, because sitting is something you have done so many times before, all without incident. This type of faith comes with familiarity through repetition. Because, other then that one time when you were hopelessly drunk, it wasn't that the chair that failed you, as much as it was, that you failed it. It was you who sent your chair and you sprawling out onto the floor, and it was you who caused yourself and others all that embarrassment. So then, other then that one time at the wedding party, the one that no one will ever let you forget, you have never failed to seat yourself with dignity.
There is that kind of familiarity, the faith of familiarity, the faith of trust.
But then there is the other type of faith. The type of faith where there has been little, if any experience what so ever. It is this type of faith where the power lys. What is faith? It is the power to know that you know.

Being Apologetic

God is a subject that makes most people feel uncomfortable. The most immediate reason for this, is because most people are ignorant of God and his ways. Some are more ignorant then others, but that, is a story for another time. We are an opinionated lot, and we like to think of ourselves as being worldly and reasonably informed on all important matters. Enough so, that we have opinions on just about anything. But when the subject of God comes up generally, or the question of whether he exists at all comes along, most peoples immediate response is to fend off the question. You will hear excuses like this, My dad taught me that there are three things that you shouldn't be brought up in a bar. I don't remember them all, but one of them was religion.
Or perhaps a more philosophical approach? Saying things like, The subject of God is such a deep subject, that we will never understand it. Anyway, they continue, his thoughts are not our thoughts, and his ways, not our way. These are time tested ways of avoiding having to speak intelligently about our Lord and Savior. But whether you have been a believer all your life, or completely ignorant about the things of God, speaking intelligently about God is not easy. It is not an easy subject precisely because God is deep! Just think of the subject matter that would naturally come up in a discussion with him, it would be limitless. Any subject you can think of, every question, no matter how small or how large, the answer to that question, the answer to all questions, now sat across from you. How would you even speak to him at all, what would you say?
So what is all of this about you might ask? All I'm trying to do, is to get you thinking about such things. Once you do, it is only natural that you will want to know more about those things. In order for you to begin to understand the family of God, you must be family. Makes sense right?
So in order to understand the family, you must be family, and the only way to become a part of any family, you must first be born into it. This too makes sense, doesn't it? It doesn't matter if you look to become part of a family of badgers, ducks, geese or humans. There must be a mother and a father, and from their love, new babies are born into the family. It is the same with the family of God. In order to become a brother or a sister of the family, you must be born a second time into it. Born, not of just muscle and bone, skin and sinew, but born of the spirit.

The Question

In the beginning was God, and God was all alone. Complete within himself, but still, very much alone. He thought to himself great thoughts, to keep himself amused. But then he began to think outside of himself, in that he thought to himself, Why don't I have friends and people like myself who I can talk to? And then, at that very instant of thought, suddenly there was a whole host of angels gathered around him praising him! This pleased him very much.
But eventually he tired of this too, and thought to himself, Sure they praise me, what choice do they have. Because they come from my thoughts, But what if I had a race of beings even more like myself, in that, they could choose for themselves whether I was worthy of praise or not.
And again, at that very moment of thought, God created Adam in his own image. But in order for Adam to fulfill God's purpose, he first had to fall from grace. Do you think that maybe this God who created everything, even the perfect setting for that first sin doesn't know you? The question is, Do you know Him?

Invincible

What is ego? Ego is a lot of things, because ego involves itself in all facets of life. You should know, before you go about considering such things, that first and foremost, Ego is a liar. What ego tells you, is that you are totally self sufficient, you can provide for all of your needs, whatever they are, and you have no need of God, because you are your own god.
Ego is braggadocios and obnoxious. People who are driven by their egos, are at heart, boring, because with them, everything is about them, therefore, egotists can only be taken in small doses. Pride is the basis of all sin, and ego is it's epitome. Pride is all about self, and self is a tyrant! I can tell you these things with confidence, because I was once exactly like that. Everything that I encountered, whatever the matter of the moment was, it was all about how it affected me.
But every selfish person comes to an end. Some come sooner, and some come later, but the last to come fall the hardest. The egotists will die the slowest of deaths, because they loose power by a lot of small wounds. As they bleed from multiple wounds, the whole time they lie to themselves by assuring themselves that they are still in control. Until at last, as the last of their blood runs dry, and they struggle for their last breath, their life's last thought is, How can this be, I was invincible?

Contrast

Too many thoughts for too many tales, sometimes become, too many to follow. Each may indeed have been a good tale, but a good story can only be one after its told. So then the decision, which one to stop and think about, and which not? The choice then is obvious, you must decide which one to do, and which one to let go?
But I have come to a way to combat that, so I don't have to think about it, all I have to do, is to decide to do it. So I sit at my desk, pen and pad at the ready, and whatever sentence that runs through my mind, I write that down. So for me, sometimes what I write comes about randomly, reversed chronologically I suppose, but the last to mind becomes the first to be written.
But of course, in order to put a thought into action, there must first be an agreement with the will. Before you can physically do it, you must first decide to do it. Once the will is set, you are given the power to do whatever task it is, that you decided to do. That logic may seem circular to you, in coming back to the premise so much, but that is what it is supposed to do, to bring focus.
The will is a powerful thing, and free will can be outright dangerous at times. Free thought, and free will are two different things. Always, we must be cognizant, that it is the Lord who leads us.
As a final thought, I wonder if any of you have ever thought to yourself, I wonder what its like to be God? The best way, is to give you a parable, at least for a taste of what it is like. You are out walking on a perfect day. You notice in the grass at your feet, a wasp is struggling for life. He can no longer fly, and whatever ails him must be fatal, because the little insect can hardly negotiate the blades of grass. So, what do you do? Step on it to put it out of it's misery, or do you walk on? You've just made a call on another life, It's life was in your hands. In our little parable, you were in fact a type of god, as you had all power over that life. Congratulations, you are god to the insect world.

New Betsy

The big Buick sparked immediately to life, and she broke her stall as if she had always known my ways. Good morning sweetheart, I said, You and I are going to get along just fine. We moved as one out into the morning traffic, and she glided into the pace, sliding smooth like polished dice when thrown on a velvet table.
Coming to the highway, there were busy lights, but not too bad of a flow, and when I prodded her out from the now green lights, she seemed to glide into traffic, finding the sweet spot with ease. So we slid and glided together as one, she seemed to anticipate my every move, and always with my pleasure and comfort in mind. And she was comfortable, so much so, that I knew that I would want to ride her until at last her oil ran dry.
So off together we rode, just her and I against the world. At times I drove her hard, but she didn't complain, giving me only a knowing shudder, until we deepened our trek together as we drove each other to understanding, Her learning my ways, and me hers.
Afterall, she is a lady of comfort, rather then of speed. No, there would be no rushing her, because with her, every move was calculated as to give maximum comfort. And yes, she made me comfortable. She moved with me, as if she had always known me, and I wasn't new to her at all. Experience you see, Why would you have me rush things, she said, take your sweet time with me, and I will make you feel good for as long as you ride in me. Wow, I think I am beginning to love my new old car.

The Whore of Babylon

America has lost her prestige in the world, We are no longer feared, and worse yet, no longer respected. So what, is all of this fall from grace Obama's fault? What of a nation who has pulled so far from the morals that once sustained us, how is it that we have pulled so far from the God of our fathers?  It is illegal to pray to God in our schools, but what of more recent news? A black Ohio politician nailed it when he asked, DO black lives really matter? Why is it he asked, that black children are being aborted at an alarming rate when compared to whites and others? Keep in mind, that blacks are still a minority in this country, and yet, it is they who abort their children at a rate higher then any other American? How about this, Did you know that of the black babies being killed, the largest majority are little black girls, isn't that considered a war on women?
Of course, middle class Americans and the rich also choose to sometimes end the life they feel inside them. But it is primarily the poor, both black and white, who feel compelled to commit such a desperate act. Could it be that this is a big part of this class warfare we hear so much about?
And what of the ghouls of Planned Parenthood, who so callously discuss the sale of baby parts to the highest bidder? What of these, do they get a pass from secular America, what kind of a person can remain apathetic to such horrors? The same horrors that are committed every day, in your name America, and with your hard earned taxes. The ghouls over at planned parenthood are the disease, but we, you and I America, are the cause. How long will we turn a blind eye to the carnage?
Like ancient Israel who turned her back on God, so now have we. This ignoring of simple decencies, have caused this nation to move away from God.  Because of her sins against God, the Hebrew nation was taken captive by Babylon, what will be our punishment? Babylon the great will rise again, and this time, more terrible then before. If you were to see with spiritual eyes, you would recognize, that you have already seen the signs of the whore from Babylon. When you see the unspeakable acts of torture, murder and rape done in the name of a god, you might well ask yourself, Who is this god? She is the whore of Babylon, she is the whore from hell!

Just Me

I started out as a child. I have always loved that line. I was the recipient of many a gold star in kindergarten, and in fact, if it weren't for that unfortunate scene in the sandbox with Mary Lou Reid, you might even say that I was a model student?
In grade school I got straight A's, right up until the end of fourth grade. Fifth was a little iffy, and as for sixth? Well, it was obvious by then that the train was going off the track.
Girls certainly had a lot to do with this change, as it was at that time, I realized that I was shy. It was also at that time, that though I was shy by nature, that I realized, that by keeping it funny, no one would be the wiser. As you have probably already guessed, that was the begining of the A's becoming F's. It may well have been the begining, but it was also the end, as my grades remained at the just failing level throughout the rest of my public school days.
Now I would like to tell you, that it was because of my superior intellect being so bored with school, that that was the reason. But certainly the fact that I had embraced a wise guy image, played a big role in my scholastic failures. The question I used to ask myself was, would I change it if I could? Yes, I guess that I would? I would have remained funny, and still gotten better grades. Oh, and a wouldn't have procrastinated so much. Funny, Procrastination was supposed to have been the title?

Politics, there is no escape..

So out in the real world, they are running for the presidency, a lot like the running of the bulls, as a lot of fools will get run over in the process. There are sixteen, give or take a few on the Republican side, and for the Democrats, there is little queen Hillary and a handful of assorted socialists. What's a country to do? It sure seems like we got ourselves in one hell of a pickle. Being in a pickle is like being between a rock and a hard place, or a dilemma to which an answer must be found.
The problem for the Democrats is that it is becoming more apparent every day, that the proposed heir apparent to the presidency, may well be at least, a bold faced liar, or at worse, a criminal? As for the Republicans, they have a different problem, as so far, there are so many voices, that the message gets lost. The plan being, that when it finally gets to the general election for 2016, that there be only two voices, one from their own party, and one for the Democrats. Hopefully, there will be only two, as never before in our history are the choices so different, and the consequences of the people's choice for President so important.
Because there are so many voices for the Republican candidate, what is needed is a unified battle cry. All those wishing to be the representative of the Republicans, should be willing to sign onto those things which they all agree on, and as to how they would accomplish those tasks, is up to the individual candidate. Things like the possible elimination of our current tax codes, and possibly the IRS altogether. One candidate, I believe it was Huckabee wants term limits, that is one most all Americans would agree with. National defense, the debt, certainly, the border situation, and the millions of people here illegally, etc. and Some may choose to focus on one aspect primarily, but all agree that this list of basics would be changed under their leadership. Also, because the goal is to end the tyrannical reign of this current regime, all should be willing to not run as a third party, and to fully support whoever emerges as the primary winner.
As for my fellow Democrats, we have to make some hard choices, and maybe we should take Hillary down from her throne. With terrorism and so many other important issues facing our nation, the American people want someone who they know and trust. The Democratic party needs Joe Biden. We watched as he gave that heartfelt speech about following the Islamist terrorists to the gates of hell, and with two sons in the military, we know he meant it, and more importantly, we know he is a patriot!

I,cloud

There is power in the sky, you can see it if you know what to look for. Today in my sky, it was one of those days, a perfect sky, filled with bulbous white clouds, a panoramic view of beauty from horizon to horizon. These billowing white clouds almost completely filled the sky, its crystal blue color shining through as patches of blue in a white sky. Across the larger holes of blue, smaller puff clouds raced across the opening, only to get caught up in the larger cloud in front of it. But the shear mass of this clouded sky was not the only reason it demanded attention, but also in the messages it brings. Messages that were important enough to warrant such a spectacular display. The only slight mar on this sight, was the fact that these perfect white clouds had a touch of grey at the bottoms, and it could warn of rain? A stupid consideration really, as it was a hot day and the rain would feel good.
Even though these roiling cloud fronts were individuals, and each rose thousands of feet in the air, they were joined in enough places to give the look of one giant cloud rather then many.
But the real beauty of it was, that it was reversed of the usual look, as the sky was white with clouds, and only patches of blue shone through. And as it moved over head, I asked of it, where is it that you have just come from, where is it that you have been? It answered me and said, I have come from where I have been, and I am going to where I have been many times before. For I have been there many times, as I have come and went from there, since the beginning of what you call time. And, as this great mosaic moved slowly across the sky overhead, it looked like a fantastic jig saw puzzle with still missing pieces.
It is not as strange as you might think to talk to clouds and animals, because there is wisdom in them, and wisdom is power. The American Indians spoke of life in this way, they would speak of power with what they studied in the natural world, and the power was wisdom.
But the clouds continued to speak to me saying, I have been here from the beginning, myself and my ancestors have traveled these same routes for eons. We travel as does everything, we spin like the universes and planets, we go around in small and larger circles, returning to where we started in the amount of time necessary by the size of our orbit. You see, in life, everything moves in circles, all life, no matter how big or how small must live by this law. My life, your life, all life, is symmetrical., what weather I bring, I have brought before, and will bring again. Though you look to me as being free, I too have an appointed route in this life that I must live out till the end. As for me another said, I move across the sky at a pace set by others, picking up dampness for rain which I will release further up along my route, and I will dump it, precisely at the alloted time. I, we, are ageless, always circling, and spinning, only to come back around again.

Doubt

Sometimes, clarity of mind can seem quite far from you. During these times, more often then not, doubt is the culprit. But it can be said of doubt, that it is a necessary evil. And although doubt is indeed evil, whether it is necessary or not, is strictly up to the individual. There is a plus side to doubt, and it is because of it that we question ourselves and the decisions we make. All in a way to get clarity. But before we go any further, let me answer the question that some of you asked. Specifically, my contention that doubt is evil. Doubt is indeed evil was what I said exactly. But why such a strong statement? It is because that only the evil one spreads doubt, and he's been doing it since that confrontation with the woman in the garden. Doubt and confusion are two of the devils most affective weapons. Especially when used as a way to divide and conquer. God on the other hand, is the God of order and logic and never of disorder, and of perfect clarity, so there is no place for doubt. In the Kingdom, as one of the family, there is no question that you cannot answer, unbounded Wisdom is yours, a fountain of life giving water that never runs dry, a water that tastes sweeter each time you drink it. Perfect sense, born from impeccable logic, where nothing is hidden, and doubt is only found as a footnote in history.
OK Ed you say, that is a fine definition, but how do I apply this to my life, how can I know the necessary doubt from the unnecessary? One simple step which comes from the Serenity Prayer. And that is, to separate the things in your life which you can change, from those which as much as you would like to, you cannot change. Then use your doubts to trigger the questions that will need answers.  Continue asking them, and never settle for less then the complete logical truth. This will give clarity, and with clarity comes peace of mind.

The Constitutional

While out with Max, to do the morning run of our twice daily routine, otherwise know as walking the dog. During this particular constitutional, we fell on disagreement. You see for me, this is only a chore, one done twice daily. For my part, I try to do it with little complaint. But on the other hand, I'm out there for him, afterall, I'm not the one who has to poop on a leash. But for Max, our twice daily jaunts are far more then just a chance to relieve himself, and given his druthers, Max would druther be out for as long as possible.
But again, from my perspective, this is just drudgery, and so I pretty much expect him to poop on command, so that I can get back home, and rid myself of my half of the leash. To be fair to the both of us, more often then not, we will fall into a cadence that is mutually acceptable. He getting his fill of butt scent, and I remain patient enough to let the poor dog poop in peace.
But still, there are those other times, when Max seems intent on busting my balls, by taking his sweet time, and dilly dallying all along the way. He is intent on prolonging his scent time, and makes it more of a priority then the pooping, which is why he is out there. Today was one of those days, and our usually pleasant conversation went like this:
Be a good boy Max, will ya, or are you going to be a ball buster? You should know by now, that you can't win, as I am a world class ball buster from way back. But Max was into his, I'm so disinterested in the whole affair, that I didn't even hear you routine, and so, he continued on his slow deliberate pace, until I could take no more, and gave him a swift kick in the ass! That did it. He returned to being my good boy again, pooping, and then moving on smartly.

Dancing with the Devil

Barack Obama got his nuclear deal with Iran. The fact that he had to give away the farm to get it, is unimportant, what was important, was just to say that they had one. Because, as has become the norm with this administration, politics will trump the good of the people every time.
Even the most wild eyed liberals admit that Iran is the biggest provider for the terrorists. Most of the horrendous acts we have all witnessed are sponsored by Iran. It is Iran who supports them financially, and by supplying weapons and training. Vermin like Isis and Boca Horan need money to operate, and Iran is always willing. More so now, as this deal returns hundreds of billions of dollars to them. It is so bizarre, in that, we will be providing some of the monies they will need to eradicate us. But no matter though, because with just a slight of hand, and some semantical changes, the administration made terrorist Iran and nuclear Iran, as if they were separate entities? They are excellent conjurers of words, a skill Barack no doubt got from his father.
We used to have a hard and fast rule in this country, that we don't negotiate with terrorists, but by separating the vermin from the well dressed gentlemen at the conference table, the president was able to skirt yet another law. As with any deal, even one as bad as this one, there has to be a certain amount of mutual trust, but trusting Iran and it's fanatical leaders is foolish at best. But the gentlemen sitting around the nuclear conference table sipping tea, and the blood thirsty lunatics who rape murder and maim in the name of their god are one and the same. So what has actually happened here, is that the administration has made a deal with the devil, all for political gain.
Speaking of the devil, there is a spiritual side to this political struggle, that is more important then the actual events themselves. It doesn't matter whether you are "not a religious person", because no one, no matter their beliefs, or lack thereof, can escape this spiritual warfare, an ancient war, that has spilled out now in plain view in this, our present time. Just as different in the physical world are the United States from Iran, so too are the differences between the two controlling spirits who war with each other. One, cuts off heads, rapes and tortures women, and crucifies children. While the other teaches of love and offers peace of mind for eternity. So now, the prospect of hands covered in blood, and fingers made filthy from death will be poised over the doomsday button, and this reality looms in the not too distant future. Perhaps now, if his father were still alive to see it, Barack has finally seen his father's dream become closer to fulfillment, and perhaps it was today, that he finally made his father proud?

Echoes

Samuel Echoes is the name that everyone called him, but his real name was Samuel Epstein. His parents knew, right from his very first word, that their son was different, and they thought to themselves, When our boy speaks, people will listen. What was so different about his voice? When he said Ma-ma for the first time, it returned as an echo.
His father was determined, that this oddity would not keep his son from having a regular life. And for the most part he did, he played every kind of sport, but he loved baseball best. His teammates adjusted to it quickly, and even came to like it. When Sam yelled encouragement to his pitcher, he would say, C'mon Tommie, fire it in there! The return sounding, In there.. In there..
But the echo of his words wasn't the only thing different about how Sam spoke, but also his diction, it was perfect! Unlike his family and friends of his neighborhood of the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, he had no hint of the accent so thick with the others. When he spoke, every word that came from his mouth was pronounced perfectly, sounding like a narrator in a film.
Now you might think, that the man to be known later in life strictly as Echoes would be extremely loud. but in fact what you heard, was perfect words being spoken at just the right volume. Crystal clear words, spoken at just the right pitch and volume for each listener. Perfect sounding words, pleasing to the ears, only to return in the wind as a whisper.

Renew the Sponge

Momentary lapses of memory, bits of information that you had already calculated, can get lost sometimes, and then you have to start figuring all over again.
The mind is like a sponge, you have probably heard that said most often, when watching children grow. They learn so fast, because everything is new, and therefore, bare investigation. To a large extent, this is because they are innocent, and to be innocent of something, can be said in another way, that you are ignorant on the subject. There is the reason, that when you see those people being asked something on the street, that most will make up an answer, rather then admit that they no nothing about it, and are ignorant about it, and nobody wants to think of themselves as ignorant, or, if you call it innocence, people believe that innocence is weakness? It is not.
But we adults have crowded ourselves with so much information, most of which we will never use. Because of this over load, this mega load of information, we can find little time for curiosities. The problem is, that by loosing this child like inquisitiveness, stops us from learning new things. Learning occurs when our curiosity is peaked, and this almost exclusively occurs when we are innocent on a subject. It is our natural inclination to want to understand everything around us. This hunger, this desire to learn, is too often lost with the intricacies of daily life. But how can you regain the innocence of youth, now that we are old and set in  our ways? By having your spirit, which resides in the mind, to be born again. This new mind creates what in a spiritual sense is a new child. A child who to all things are new again. The child, that by who's innocence, will renew that sponge like mind that we all once had.

Plain and Simple

So what happened, how is it that this mop topped white kid could mow down so many of God's saints in their place of worship? Why do bad things happen to good people? How can anyone be so heartless and cruel, as to go about ending the lives of so many? Something as horrific as this, brings to mind so many questions, and few, if any answers.
Certainly, in this era of politics above all else, it seems that tragedies like this one are wasted, if political hay can not be made of them. So we'll argue over gun control again, and we'll here all those tired lines of defense from both sides. The only one that makes any sense, is that guns don't kill people, people kill people. But having said that, it drops us off right at the beginning, at the source of the tragedy, this extremely troubled white kid. The fact that he is white is only important if you look at it from strictly a racist point of view. Why did he do it, was this twenty year old so affected by blacks to justify in his mind murdering all those innocent victims?
People are prejudice by nature, we all have people who we like, and people we don't, without really knowing them at all. But racism takes prejudice to a whole other level. What racism is really, is fear. We fear those who are different from ourselves. Different colors, nationalities, and religion, are just three of the ways that people are different. Racism is an equal opportunity offender, white against black, Jew against gentile and so on. What happened at that church was no different then what happened to those police officers killed recently, execution style. Both, to some extent were fueled by racism. A life long criminal's thinking, is far different then a kid who hadn't really felt the problems of having race be a factor in his life, so what then if it is race, how did he become so paranoid? Could the recent ginning up of racial hatred in Baltimore and Missouri have anything to do with his thinking? What of the race baiters like Al Sharpton, or Louis Farakhan? Had he heard on line the hatred of black leaders like this, had this entered his mind? Again, more questions then answers, but certainly a consideration as our current events regarding such problems have filled the news. But in the end, no matter your opinion, something entered this kid to make him do such a heinous act. So what enters into the problem as a reason? Surely, the break down of the family, but still, what made him do this thing on this day? What caused it was evil, pure unadulterated evil. If you accept good as a reality, surely you must know that the opposite is true, and that if good exists in God, evil exists with the Devil. So then you might say, OK, if this is a spiritual problem, how is it that God allowed it, why didn't he intercede? In reality, God did intercede. This kid sat among the worshipers in church, and so, being among so many Christians had a way of escape from his evil thoughts. But the demon that entered this kid must have been extremely powerful. Because he was unaffected by the truths being taught, but rather his mind made resolute toward destruction and murder. Evil exists, good exists, God exists, and so does his counterpart Satan, it is that plain and simple.

Becoming the Ostrich

The cold hard steel of our sabers have yet to have tasted blood, our defense is only something we discuss. A one world system of government, united over economics, united on climate change? The loosing of a national point of view, for us now, the collective, instead of the individual, spawns a mentality, that can not tolerate free speech.
In our country, the mood is isolationism. Afterall, if we are one world, then let the world solve it. The enemy is not ours to name, it is somebody else's problem. A world united on the idea, that all the nation members can profit equally. One agreement, one religion, or a world at war?
You can look to history as a way to understand the apathy and the fear, and you can try to force the eagle to become an ostrich. You can hide from it, you can whimper in a corner, but you can not stop what time has mandated. The time may have already come and went, but we have not yet missed the boat.
Not our problem you say? We are a nation who was spawned on the gospel, a Christian nation, a nation who looks now to turn a blind eye to the horror now being done to our brethren, world wide.  A war on Christians has become so trivulized, as to be only a war against Santa Clause at Christmas time. Fools! These men of evil slaughter us in lands we call over there, but soon these minions of the evil one, will bring all of the horror home to roost.

Christianity 101

Perhaps it is time for some straight talk, and so in this one, we will leave the nuances of poetry behind. The art of becoming a Christian is actually quite simple, and quite possibly, by choosing art as the word, already some might say, I'll never understand this? The simplicity lies within the fact, that it is that thing which we call free will. The significance of that from a biblical perspective, is that it brings to mind the first time such a decision was made.
Eve, though tempted by the tempter, decided to eat of the fruit, and give some to her husband. He was easier to convince. Afterall, had not Eve already done it? Trust me on this, when that beautiful woman leaned into him, offering the fruit, all he could think about, was a million reasons why he should, and not a one as to why he should not.
So, by their free will, they chose sin, and mankind has been paying for it ever since. The ramifications of that choice, was that, by that simple act of defiance, pride, which is at the root of all sin, was born. The first one, the sin of pride. Afterall, did the serpent lie completely when he told Eve that she would be like God? And in that respect, that she now knew that she could decipher between good and evil. You must remember, that there is always an element of truth, otherwise, the story would fall apart before it begins. Are you starting to see the significance of that moment so long ago, do you understand the similarities? Eve had a decision to make, and chose to go it alone. You too have a decision to make, because the Lord Jesus Christ asks of you the same question. Do you choose my way, and the righteousness with it, or do you choose to go it alone? Either yes Lord, I give the reins of my life to you willingly, or again, I am too prideful to submit.
But back to the simplistics of it. If nothing else, no matter how arrogant you are, we can agree the subject has merit, and is do your consideration. Get all your intellectual gymnastics out of the way, but in the end, give your answer. Either yes Jesus, teach me your ways, or no thanks, I'm doing fine on my own?

A Different Point

I have been thinking about nexuses, the ones in the universe, and the nexus of life. What is the nexus of life? It is a place of meeting, a junction of sorts? At this intersection, is the crossing, the meeting place of this life, and eternal life. In a linear sense, eternal life is flat, it can run vertically or horizontally, but it is always flat, never the slightest variation, always a perfect 180 degrees.
But your life, my life, our lives, human life, is not a stable line like its eternal brother. Looking at it as a line, it would look something like a line on a graph, tracing a stock. This life, being temporary, falls victim to all sorts of stimuli, and so if you were to draw a horizontal base line, our lives, here on earth, would jag out from the center, both on the positive side of life, and on the negative. It probably would not be a surprise to you, if I were to tell you, that there is far more on the negative side then on the positive.
But for our purposes, we will make eternal life to be vertical, running north and south, while our temporary lives run their jagged lines horizontally, running east and west. At the intersection, where they meet, is the nexus of your life. Your point of entrance, depending on your age, or for that matter, your century, each of us intersects the eternal line at a different point.

The Truth about lies

A compilation of compositions, a life in letters too soon forgotten. Old sentences and phrases lie scattered about, the sentences falling to the floor, and their letters scattered among the dust.
Feelings and logic do battle, they clamor at the gate. Too few problems solved, too many to count, left to unravel.
Sentences both spoken and written, they float alone out in the cosmos. It is wisdom that is afloat, and it comes only hard fought. For Wisdom whispers her secrets to you in your ear, but you do not heed the call.
Lies come hardest, they weave their tapestries like evil spiders. Although truth lies covered with these webs, Truth is light, truth is life, and truth never moves. Small thoughts like an inconvenience, mix within what your mind can hold, but they can only cloud truth for so long, because truth will have it's way.
Truth you see is eternal, because truth is life, and by God's plan, life is eternal. But lies float blindly in the wind, for there is no life with lies, with lies is only death.

War Chest

While mulling over a few things, I thought for a tongue in cheek moment, to write to a friend, and ask her a question? Because technically, that is to say, by registration, I am a Democrat, I said to her in my email, I'm I am thinking of announcing my candidacy, as to possibly being a nominee of my party, for the presidency of the United States. And then I asked her, Do you think I have a chance? Yes, she said, you'd be a great president, you are just what this country needs.
Now, my tongue in cheek remark, became a more real consideration. Imagine the response of my party, a party that has allowed itself to be pulled so far to the left, that they have become a laughing stock to most Americans. A party, who's only alternative to team Obama/Clinton, is a collection of clowns and socialists. Wow! what happened?
So, say now, at this point, call it an intellectual exercise, Could big time financial donors of the Democratic party back a candidate like me? I'll tell you one thing in all seriousness, I'd clean Hillary's clock, and that with a pittance of her war chest!
