Remember 9/11

A clear blue crystal like sky is this mornings fare, thank you Father! It is always a bit eery for me when the morning sky looks like this, even the chill is as I remember it! It was on a day just like this one, when the original 9/11 occurred! You do remember the original don't you? It was by far the biggest, for on that day, the Twin Towers were reduced to dust, the Pentagon was hit, and a lot of very brave people, died in a field somewhere in Pennsylvania? But, depending on your age, and your attention span, you might be excused if those memories have been forgotten to some extent? But the first was obviously the original, and it has spawned a lot of smaller events? The most recent were the murders of the four brave Americans at Benghazi, and other assorted minor attacks? But again, the original was the bell weather event, and it spawned all of these lessor copycats!
There are so many memories that come flooding back when I think of that day! I remember driving home from work on an abandoned New Jersey Turnpike, and for those not familiar with the East coast, the Jersey Turnpike is never empty, even at 4 in the morning! Not much made sense, I was angry and saddened at the same time, I was betwixt and between? But then, on the morning of the second day, there stood George Bush, along with the Fire Chief of New York City, with the pile of rubble behind them as a backdrop, and he said from a bullhorn, that we are coming for you who did these things, and we will make you pay! It was the first thing that made any sense to me, and for the first time, I felt a bit of ease, and I thought, OK, maybe we will be OK?
We would do well to remember that day! Because there are those who's mindset is just that. To kill Americans, and to deny that, by sticking our heads in the ground like an Ostrich, protects us about as much as it protects that Ostrich!
