Oppressive Compassion Pg. 2.

Certainly racism exists in this country, but racism of one sort or another exists all over the world. But the type of racism our national protagonists look to forward is the type of rampant racism that existed during the Jim Crow era, certainly not of today! But since the Civil Rights act of the early sixties, things have gotten steadily better with each passing year. Les we forget that our President is a man of color, and the attorney General which is the highest ranking law enforcement officer in the land is also black! The truth is that your father's racism no longer exists in this country, so why do you look to resuscitate the corpse?
Today, by a wide margin, black people identify most with the Democratic party, but why? the Democratic party and their liberal base suffers from a kind of Oppressive Compassion, in that, in their zeal to help the poor of this nation, particularly the black community, they wind up hurting the very people they look to help! During the time of plantations, the slave community was totally dependent upon their taskmaster owners. But in this modern day type of plantation, the government becomes the taskmaster. Instead of rich landowners taking the lion's share from the cotton industry, it is the politicians who look to prosper from the government. The key in both situations, is to keep the people dependent. That is how the slave owners kept slaves back on the farm, and that is how the politicians keep the folk lined up on cold and rainy nights to vote!
Now you might say, How can you compare politicians to plantation owners? As with everything else, it is all about money and power! The plantation owners were more then happy to provide food and shelter for the people who made them fortunes by working in their fields. Just as today, politicians are  willing to provide for who they see as the down trodden in our society, in return for their obedience at the poles. Politics have made more people wealthy, without the need to do any real work, and is far easier then running a productive farm! At least the plantation owners stood to loose everything if they did not pay proper attention to the matter at hand, where politicians risk nothing!
It is a strange situation as to what is happening here, in that, the tables have been reversed, and it is white people who are now discriminated against by making a concerted attempt to stifle their free  speech! How is this done? Simple. Anytime, and for any reason, people want to silence a critic, all they must do is play the dreaded race card? Strangely, whites more then blacks will accuse others as being racist? And what is this evidence of this racism? Only that you not agree with the current administration? You cannot disagree with the President strictly on his record without some moron accusing you of racism!

Oppressive Compassion pg. 1.

So now that the verdict is in, again we will have our national pulse taken! There are those, who to use the President's words, looked to gin up the situation, and have racism raise it's ugly head again? If the outside of the courtroom, immediately after the verdict was read is an accurate barometer, perhaps we will be fine? There was no dancing in the streets by the Zimmerman supporters, nor was there any violence or any obvious taunts from the people who supported Trayvon Martin.
This has become a national discussion, one that we can all learn from! But particularly to the black community, many of who, will look at this whole thing in a personal way? They have been told by the Sharpton types, that white against black racism is alive and well in this country, and this incidence, and a verdict, other then guilty would be proof of that racism? This trial was about a tragedy, a young man who had his whole life ahead of him is dead! Is George Zimmerman a racist? He might be, but that is not what this case was about. The only two people who know exactly what happened that night are the two involved in the fight, and sadly, one cannot testify! Incredibly, there are people who believe that most whites and white Puerto Ricans do hate blacks, but this is untrue!
Are there racist whites? You betcha! But did you know that by percentage of race, white people who hate blacks, and black people who hate whites, that black people by far are the most racist? It's funny the things you can learn from music? Lately, I have been listening again to Bob Marley. Because of this, I became interested in the Rastafarian religion, and that led to a better understanding of what type of people the slaves were, and how it was that they became so complacent? I figured that they wer mostly uneducated, not much more then simple dirt farmers? Obviously, most were a simple people, but many were from royal families with rich heritage, and traditions that went back thousands of years! How is it that once proud people like these came to accept their captors, and adapt to that slave mentality? Surely, the physical aspects in the form of abuse had somthing to do with it. So they would work the fields, and do what was needed to survive, but how was it that they came to embrace their lives? It was the plantation mentalty that said, As bad as things are, at least we have food and a warm place to sleep oncold winter nights! They became dependent on their taskmasters.
Sadly, today, there is a different kind of slavery in place?

Reflections,going to the birds

I thought I would try a new place to play but I got bamboozled by Microsoft, and here I thought they loved me? They enticed me to start a blog over at their cohorts place, and they gave me pretty pictures? Anyway, I fell for it, and all they wanted was to generate a few more sites? All having the name
'Reflections' in it somewhere? Oh well, at least they haven't lost their capitalistic spirit! Anyway, this part is in the way of an explanation, so that the post makes sense? The blog was to be called Reflections, a catchy name wouldn't you say?
It was nice and cool outside earlier, winds blowing lightly, rain clouds on the horizon. So I started thinking about the name Reflections, and started to think about flat lakes with concentric circles caused by the rain drops. Naturally I thought of mirrors, and mirrored images, stuff like that!
But then came the birds, putting on fantastic flying displays! They flew both singling, and in groups. Three different times, small flocks of birds took off together, leaving from the ground in front of me, already in formation! Now all of this was amazing in and of itself, but that wasn't what got me? It was the recognition that not only had displays like this happened before, but they had happened more often then not!
So it was at this point that I knew that shiny lakes would have to wait, because this one was for the birds! I am running out of room on my yellow pad, so far, one story per page? But I will tell you of other bird like things while space allows? Because I live near a lake, there are a lot of different water foul. Geese often walk along side me, and when they enter the water, or if they are flying, it is rare when there is less then five, and they move always in formation. Two times, the two swans that are in the lake have approached me, and once, the male came within three feet of me, and spread his powerful wings as if to show me, and this with his back turned to me, and he showed no fear? Then there are many assorted tweety birds of different colors and shapes, and lately, wherever I go, there is this one bird who is always there? A black bird the size of a robin, who has what looks like a Sgt.. Patch of red and gold in the middle of his wings. No matter where I go, if I'm on foot, he is never far off!
